Scientific Conference in Sarajevo: 'Bosnian-Herzegovinian History Through the Lens of History Department Alumni'

(Patria) - The Centre for Historical Research (CeHIS) is organizing a conference titled "Bosnian-Herzegovinian History Through the Lens of History Department Alumni".

The occasion is the celebration of a significant jubilee - 75 years since the founding of the History Department of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Sarajevo.

According to the program, the event is scheduled to last for three days - from April 23 to 25, and all activities will be held in the Small Amphitheater of the Faculty of Philosophy.

The aim of the conference is to promote the results of the work of contemporary Bosnian-Herzegovinian historiography, archaeology, and art history.

Through the lens of their research, alumni of the History Department will present scientific topics that problematize the cultural-historical development of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the earliest periods of the past to the modern era.

A total of 41 scientists are participating in the conference, 33 of whom hold a doctorate and come from eleven different institutions from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.

In line with international academic trends, CeHIS, which was established within the framework of the History Department's work, is organizing the aforementioned conference to strengthen the sense of belonging and loyalty of alumni to their Alma Mater, thereby contributing to the expansion of the reputation and promotion of the name of the University of Sarajevo.

One of the motives for celebrating this jubilee is also to strengthen the ties between the parent University, Faculty, and Department with generations of former students.

The last day of the conference is reserved for a doctoral workshop where final-year doctoral students will present the results of their research with their mentors.

Thus, the History Department demonstrates its commitment to motivating young researchers to engage in historical science.
