RAMADAN BEGINS First day of fasting on March 11

(Patria) - According to the Calendar of the Islamic Community (IZ) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the sunset on Sunday, March 10, 2024, the month of Ramadan begins and the first tarawih prayer will be performed then, while the first day of fasting will be on Monday, March 11.

The Islamic Community will organize numerous religious activities during this month, as well as unique programs to mark significant dates - Laylat al-Badr, Fethu Mekke, and Laylat al-Qadr.

The month of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Hijri lunar calendar, and fasting is performed during it.

This month is also distinguished by the beginning of the revelation of the Quran, the last Divine Revelation, and a characteristic of the Islamic tradition of Bosniaks is the recitation of Ramadan mukabels.

Ramadan is the most important month for Muslims around the world, including those who have lived in Bosnia and Herzegovina for centuries and preserve the Ramadan tradition.

Eid al-Fitr prayer will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
