Merdić family, who lost two daughters years ago, hit by tragedy again!

The residents of Bare settlement near Kakanj are proof that life can be merciless, writes the Patria News Agency. The family of Zikret Merdić feels particular emotions and sadness in this whole story, whose wife Sadika and daughter Belma (1996) were under the rubble after a landslide occurred, and whose lives were saved by firefighters, members of the Civil Protection, and a rescue mining company.

As Kakanj residents revealed to us, the Merdić family lived harmoniously and had four daughters. But the tragedy of this family began when Sadika and Zikret lost two daughters in the same year, who passed away at the age of 19.

The first, Arnela Merdić, suddenly fell ill and lost her battle for life after only two months in the hospital, and her sister Muvehdeta passed away less than a year later.

- They are a wonderful family. Devout believers, and Zikret worked as a treasurer at the mosque for some time. What happened to them is terrible. May Allah grant them patience. He has another married daughter, and Belma is the youngest member of the family. I hope God keeps them alive – a local resident told us.

Zikret was at work when the landslide occurred, and he is an employee of the Kakanj Mine. His wife Sadika is in serious condition.
