Victim Edina Bešlagić was a witness to war crimes in Doboj

DOBOJ, (Patria) – The woman who died in a fire in her family home in Doboj on Monday was a witness to war crimes in that city during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Family members confirmed to the Patria news agency that Edina Bešlagić (56) was giving testimony regarding war crimes before her tragic death. She testified about how her father and mother were killed in the early nineties. Members of the VRS killed her parents, aunt, and uncle on September 15, 1993. The District Prosecutor's Office in Doboj confirmed to Federal TV that they are investigating this case.

Bešlagić lived alone in the house. She died in a fire that broke out in her house on the night between Sunday and Monday. An autopsy of the unfortunate Bešlagić's body has been ordered, as well as an investigation to determine how the fire started. Although neighbors speak of a strong explosion they heard before the fire, the head of the Criminal Police Sector in Doboj, Žarko Panić, confirmed that no gas cylinder was found, which was suspected to have caused the fire. He also stated that the investigation so far has shown that the fire was not caused by the detonation of any type of explosive device.
