Work continues on arranging the plateau around 'Wings of Freedom' and paving the event square on Golo Brdo

(Patria) - After the grand monument "Wings of Freedom", a symbol of victory, defense and remembrance of the bravest sons of our homeland, was built in the previous period on Golo Brdo on Žuč, several days ago work continued on arranging the plateau around the monument and paving the event square.

By arranging the space around the "Wings of Freedom" monument, a monumental structure that rose above Sarajevo in the form of a stylized bird, visible from many parts of the city, this area will become even more beautiful and functional for holding events marking significant dates and events from the past war.



Currently, earthworks are being carried out to arrange the plateau and pave the square where the anniversaries of defensive-liberation battles will be dignifiedly marked, so that everything that happened during the past war can be properly remembered and passed on to future generations.

This phase of works also includes the construction of stairs and access paths for people in wheelchairs, public lighting and video surveillance, as well as the construction of a parking lot.

The "Wings of Freedom" monument was opened on June 8 this year, on the Day of Defense of the Novi Grad municipality, whose wings preserve the memory of all our martyrs and fallen defenders, deserving of our survival.

"Wings of Freedom" are a permanent reminder to us and future generations of the bloodiest, but victorious days of the defense of the city of Sarajevo from the aggressor.



The monument is part of the Žuč Memorial Complex, within which the construction of another facility is planned in the coming period, which will house multimedia halls for receiving visitors, holding history lessons, socializing, and rooms for a museum display of the brigades that fought in this area, as well as other accompanying facilities.

The Novi Grad Sarajevo municipality is implementing the project in cooperation with the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton.
