Control of migrants continued in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Municipal Court in Sarajevo accepted the proposal of the KS Prosecutor's Office and ordered one-month detention for two migrants from Morocco and Algeria who were arrested in Sarajevo on Sunday for illegal possession of weapons and explosives, confirmed the spokesperson for the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, Azra Bavčić.

- Detention was ordered for the arrested migrants due to the risk of them fleeing, and that they might commit or repeat criminal offenses while at liberty - said Bavčić.

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton searched the apartment used by the arrested migrants on Sunday, where a rifle, four pistols, one silencer, and more than 100 rounds of various calibers were found. According to sources from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, the migrants stated that they bought the weapons in Sarajevo for further resale to earn money to leave Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Monday, an operation was carried out in the Sarajevo area involving members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, SIPA, with the support of OSA.

The Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Mevludin Halilović, stated that the Sarajevo police continue to control the areas where migrants reside, but that they cannot and must not restrict their freedom of movement.
