Cost-saving measures continue at KCUS: Parents photograph children's medical reports on their phones because there is no paper!

For months now (almost two years), citizens needing services at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo have been feeling the cost-saving measures of director Sebija Izetbegović. Besides the basic things that the largest hospital in BiH lacks, medicines, reagents, gauze, gloves, patients are also denied their medical reports, writes the Patria agency.

We have previously written that KCUS does not issue reports in printed form but sends patients to health centers. Health centers claim that a doctor cannot accept a report without an original stamp and signature of the doctor. And so, while responsibility is shifted from KCUS to health centers and vice versa, patients suffer and 'chase their reports'.

A new case from KCUS shows that the director's cost-saving measures are still in effect, and this affects the youngest patients.  

The parents of one boy (name known to the editorial office) had an unpleasant experience at this healthcare institution yesterday.

- Namely, since the child has allergies and they need to be monitored, this includes allergy tests, but the hospital does not have reagents. Two necessary allergy tests cost around 350 KM – says the boy's father.

To make matters worse, the boy also had spirometry (a test to examine lung function), but he could not get the report. The doctor who examined him told the mother to take a picture of the report with her phone!

- There is simply no paper! So, in a country where they cut down all the trees, there is no paper. The hospital has no paper – says the indignant father, who, along with his wife, has been dutifully paying health insurance contributions from his salary for years.

The climax of this unbelievable story is that the doctor took one of the old reports and found a little free space on it and wrote a 'professional opinion'.
