Project 'Life is at Stake' Continues

(Patria) - The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton continues the preventive examination project 'Life is at Stake' this year as well. The project will be expanded to include screening for early detection of skin cancer, in addition to the existing preventive examinations for early detection of cervical cancer, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer.

The Ministry of Health will fully finance PAP tests and HPV genotyping services, mammography, immunochemical tests for occult blood, and digital dermoscopy for all registered citizens. Citizens will have the opportunity to choose the service and healthcare facility where they wish to undergo the examination, as long as there are available appointments.

Accordingly, the KS Ministry of Health is issuing a Public Call for Offers for the provision of screening programs for early detection of cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, and melanoma in KS. All public and private healthcare institutions and private practices that meet the criteria of the Public Call can apply.

The Public Call, with all details, is available on the official website of the Ministry www.mz.ks.gov.ba.

In the previous year, over 11,000 preventive examinations were carried out for insured and uninsured citizens of KS. More than 6,000 of them were referred for regular check-ups, about 700 were referred for further diagnostics due to suspicious findings, while the disease was definitively confirmed in its early stages in about 40 citizens.

This year, it is planned to conduct over 4,000 more examinations within this project.

The Minister of Health of KS, Prof. Dr. Haris Vranić, invited all healthcare institutions and practices that meet the criteria to apply for the Public Call and join this important project for the health of the citizens.
