Correspondence between Independent Body and FBiH Government Continues, New FUP Director Contest Still Pending

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Independent Body of the FBiH Parliament held a session today to discuss the FBiH Government's conclusion to repeat the selection procedure for the director of the Federal Police Administration, after the FBiH Government did not select any of the candidates from the list for director at its session on July 8.

As confirmed to Patria by the Independent Body, a decision was adopted today to send a letter to the FBiH Government with the Independent Body's opinion that the Government should have made a decision, not a conclusion, thereby allegedly preventing candidates from taking further legal action.

One of the seven members of the Independent Body expressed a dissenting opinion and did not agree with sending a letter to the FBiH Government.

As Patria was unofficially told, this correspondence between the Independent Body and the FBiH Government will buy some time, but ultimately a new contest will be announced.

"Two candidates from the old list have already retired, the FBiH Government voted and did not select any candidate, thus ending the contest. There is no obstacle to announcing a new contest, and I think it will happen very quickly," a Patria source said.

The FBiH Government voted on July 8 on all names from the list submitted by the Independent Body back in late April 2019, but no candidate received the support of the FBiH Government.

The top candidate on the Independent Body's list is Zoran Galić, director of the BiH Border Police in his second term, who is also the favorite of HDZ BiH, whose ministers were the only ones to vote for him.

The list also includes Milan Galić, police commissioner of West Herzegovina Canton, who was re-appointed to that position at the end of March 2021, Ensad Korman, deputy director of the FUP, who has been acting director since June 2019, Robert Perić, head of the South Regional Office and chief inspector in the BiH Border Police, Ljuban Frljić, head of a sector of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Central Bosnia Canton, Mustafa Hujdurović, inspector in the FUP, and Zoran Čegar, head of the Uniformed Police Sector of the Federal Police Administration.
