Support for the Sports Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired KS Continues

The Municipality of Stari Grad will, as in previous years, continue to support the work of the Sports Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Canton Sarajevo in 2017. Today, an agreement on allocating funds in the amount of 5,000 KM was signed by the Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and the President of the Sports Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired KS, Kenan Kudus. Representatives of the Municipal Service for Education, Culture and Sport, as well as Zoran Đukić, a member of the association and coach of the BiH blind bowling team, attended the signing, reports Patria.

The Association will soon continue with the second cycle of the project "Inclusion through Sport 2016/2017". After the fourth-grade students of the Stari Grad primary schools "Edhem Mulabdić", "Šejh Muhamed ef. Hadžijamaković" and "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija" were introduced to the issue of white canes, and the disciplines and aids used by blind people, students of the primary schools "Vrhbosna", "Hamdija Kreševljaković" and "Saburina" will follow in March.

- We are indescribably grateful to Mayor Hadžibajrić and the relevant service for this continuous and generous support for all that we do. The "Inclusion through Sport" project has entered its fifth year, and the progress and interest among children are incredible; we are truly eagerly awaiting the continuation of work with the Stari Grad primary school students in March - said the association's president, Kenan Kudus.

There was also talk about the planned activities for this year. In May, the jubilee 10th Goalball tournament for blind and visually impaired people is planned. This is a special type of football played with a so-called sound ball, which players direct towards a goal larger than usual based on sound.

The Municipality of Stari Grad has been supporting this tournament for the eighth consecutive year, and it has a distinctly international character with competitors from numerous countries. The traditional walk "You watch us, but do you see us?", which attracted significant public and media attention last October, is also planned.
