Inspection of drinking water quality continues at local water supply systems

The Municipality of Centar has, as in previous years, allocated funds in its budget for continuous monitoring, control and disinfection of drinking water at several local water supply systems, reports the Patria news agency.  

Dževad Bećirević, Mayor of the Municipality of Centar, and Snježana Balta, Director of the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton, signed a contract under which the Municipality in 2015 finances, and the Institute conducts analysis, testing and control of water at six local water supply systems in Nahorevo and Mrkovići: Stijena, Muharemovići, Kokorevac, Brda, Radava and Čavljak.

Under this contract, worth 8,000 KM, the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton undertakes to continuously disinfect drinking water at the mentioned sources throughout 2015, and its sanitary inspection will conduct a bacteriological analysis of the water once a month and monitor the level of chlorine dioxide.

The contract also stipulates that a physical-chemical analysis of the water is performed four times a year. Based on these tests, the inspection is obliged to compile a monthly report on the sanitary-hygienic condition of the local water supply systems, announced the Municipality of Centar.
