Continuation of the Memić Case Trial: Why Wasn't Alisa Mutap's T-shirt Forensically Examined?

The continuation of the trial of Ljubo Seferović and his father Bekrija took place at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo due to a serious offense against public traffic safety and for the offense of not providing assistance to a person injured in a traffic accident and the offense of obstructing evidence, in the case of Dženan Memić's death, reports Patria News Agency.

Three forensic experts from the Federal Police Administration, Department of Forensic Examinations, appeared in court today.

Today, the scene of the event from February 8, 2016, and traces 1 to 10, including pieces of glass, plastic, blood, and paint, were displayed on the projector. Interestingly, the item itself indicated that it was a murder!

The first witness was Ivica Perović, an expert who has been working as a chemical expert for 6 years. By order of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton dated June 1, 2016, he was tasked with determining whether the paint traces found at the scene originated from a VW van.

A piece of dark green paint from the accident site, a paint sample from the rearview mirror, and a paint sample from the right fender were submitted for forensic examination.

The expert conducted a comparative analysis and determined that the surface paints were of the same type, but he could not confirm that the samples originated from each other. The expert stated that the color was moss green.

When asked by the defense attorney for the accused, Rusmir Karkin, whether it was possible that the Prosecutor's Office's order was issued on June 1, 2016, and the analysis was performed, the expert replied that it was possible.

The traces arrived in envelopes, and when asked by attorney Karkin whether the envelopes were sealed, the witness stated that, as far as he remembered, they were taped shut.

He confirmed that he did not create a report when opening the envelopes.

Furthermore, the witness confirmed that the green paint trace had been treated multiple times and that he had previously been ordered to compare it with a vehicle linked to this incident (a green Renault Clio, author's note).

Expert Perović stated that he did not photograph the traces he received.

The second expert who presented her findings was Elvira Karahasanović. Her task was to examine the blood traces found at the scene, as well as the clothing of Alisa Mutap, Dženan Memić, and Mirza Ploskić.

Karahasanović stated that she received cotton swabs with traces that appeared to be blood. These were traces 7, 9, and 10.

After determining that they were of human origin, DNA analysis was performed, and it was found that the blood from trace 7 belonged to Alisa Mutap, trace 9 to Dženan Memić, and trace 10 also to Alisa Mutap.

An undisputed sample, taken by order of the KS Prosecutor's Office on March 11, 2016, was submitted for forensic examination.

Forensic examination of Alisa Mutap's clothing revealed blood traces on both the front and back of the jacket, predominantly on the back, from the collar downwards.

Traces of soil and blood were found on the trousers. Interestingly, Alisa Mutap's t-shirt was not part of the analysis.

Blood traces were found on Dženan Memić's sweater around the collar, on his undershirt on the front, and on his jacket in the upper part from the collar towards the right side. Blood was observed on the back of his trousers.

Additionally, the traces found on the pistol found with Dženan Memić were insufficient for analysis.

Mirza Ploskić's jacket, which was visually inspected and examined with a magnifying glass, contained blood traces. However, analysis determined that it was male blood, but not Dženan Memić's.

Expert Karahasanović did not know the exact macro-location from which trace 7 was taken, as two traces were next to each other, and one of them was not even marked, which was evident from the photo documentation displayed in the courtroom.

The expert confirmed that the blood traces on Alisa Mutap's clothing resulted from heavy bleeding.

The last expert to present her findings was Alma Ušanović, who examined trace number 5: a piece of plastic, a metal key, a kitchen knife, a metal pipe, and some items seized from Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, as well as Vasvija Sejdović, such as an axe, a wooden handle, and a jack.

She stated that the piece of plastic tested positive for Alisa Mutap's blood. The traces on the wheel lug wrench and the knife could not be linked to Alisa Mutap, Dženan Memić, Vasvija Sejdović, Ljubo, or Bekrija Seferović.

When asked by Judge Igor Todorović where the piece of plastic originated from and which part of the vehicle it belonged to, the expert said it was seized during the investigation in Velika aleja on February 8, 2016, but she did not know from which part.

The continuation of the trial is scheduled for March 14, 2017, at 1:00 PM.
