(Patria) - DF MP in the FBiH Parliament Alma Kratina warned tonight via social networks that while the "combinatorics" regarding appointments in the FBiH Government are being "finalized" and laws are waiting, women in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are in mortal danger daily without protection from abusers.
"In the last month alone, women were beaten and killed in Gradačac, Turbet, Ljubuški, Zavidovići, and who knows where else in the silence of their homes, which have become the most insecure places for many women and children.
We stated our position on this long ago through the Committee on Gender Equality of the House of Representatives.
We expect the FBiH Government to urgently send amendments to the Criminal Code of the FBiH, as well as a new Law on Protection from Family Violence, to the parliamentary procedure, through which victims will be protected and not left to further abuse and despair.
MPs and non-governmental organizations have long provided solutions through submitted proposals and initiatives, but the parliamentary majority and the Government, which has so far mostly given negative opinions on MPs' proposals, and at the same time has not sent the missing solutions to the procedure themselves, bear great responsibility for the protection of this extremely vulnerable category," Kratina stated.
