Naser Orić before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina: I am not guilty!

Today at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the wartime commander of Srebrenica, Naser Orić, and a member of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sabahudin Muhić, entered their pleas, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Both pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. The indictment was not read again.

The indictment charges them with acting contrary to the provisions of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the armed conflict between the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Army of Republika Srpska, in the area of Srebrenica and Bratunac, in their capacity as commander and member of the forces of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment states that in 1992, in the places of Zalazje, Lolići and Kunjerac, the accused committed the murder of three prisoners of Serbian nationality.

Lejla Čović, the defense attorney for Naser Orić, said that both Orić and Sabahudin Muhić, before the preliminary proceedings judge Minko Kreho, pleaded not guilty on all counts of the indictment.

- Now the case goes before the Trial Chamber, which will schedule the main hearing, i.e., the start of the trial - stated Čović.
She further said that at this stage of the proceedings it is too early to say whether the defense will have its own witnesses or will base its defense on the fact that this case has already been adjudicated before the Hague Tribunal, reports Patria.
