Naša stranka on January 9th: Prosecute those responsible for violating the Constitution

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Today's date cannot be the Day of Republika Srpska because it is unconstitutional. The Constitutional Court of BiH decided so, but we must not forget that the European Commission for Democracy through Law, better known as the Venice Commission, is of the same opinion, it was announced from Naša stranka.

"The decision of the RS authorities to mark that day as the entity day is a threat to democracy, support for war policies, and an insult and threat to returnees and victims of the most horrific war crimes, including genocide. It is also an insult to all those who do not wish to accept the achievements of war crimes as their own.

The authorities in RS had enough time to come to their senses and stop marking this unconstitutional date. They did not do so, and it is clear that they will not do so in the future. Therefore, we consider any reaction and criticism directed at them to be unproductive. Currently, the biggest problem is the failure to prosecute those who violate the Constitution by insisting on marking January 9th as the Day of RS. In this regard, the BiH Prosecutor's Office and the High Representative bear the greatest responsibility.

The BiH Presidency also bears some responsibility because it does not position January 9th high enough in discussions with Russia and Serbia. Representatives of both countries respond to the celebrations of January 9th or otherwise give legitimacy to that date, thereby undermining the BiH Constitution, as well as the Dayton Peace Agreement, even though they have a certain obligation to protect it – Russia as a member of the PIC, and Serbia as its signatory," it was announced.
