Our Party: Security for Citizens, a Life Dignified for Migrants

(Patria) - The joy we are accustomed to on New Year's Eve this year, besides the pandemic, will be overshadowed by the migrant crisis. A sign that we have not lost our humanity is empathy for all those who are homeless, frostbitten, and hungry. Does the Bosnian-Herzegovinian government feel it? In what way does it show that?

We have had enough time to become actors, not mere observers, in managing the migrant crisis. We missed that opportunity by relying on solutions to be brought by international factors, which failed to materialize. Now, in the eyes of both the domestic and international public, we appear inhumane. We believe this is not so much about inhumanity as it is about incompetence, especially of the state government and, most specifically, the Ministry of Security and the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees.

All negative stories could have been avoided only by guaranteeing security for our citizens, especially those in the Una-Sana Canton, which could have been achieved through 100% control of migrant movement. A life dignified for migrants, and a sense of security for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina – that is what we have advocated for and will continue to work on. Given the fact that there is no adequate justification for why we have not been able to achieve this so far, this is yet another reason for representatives to vote for the dismissal of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the session on January 11.

If we enter the new year with sorrow over the fate of hundreds and hundreds of people, for which our government is responsible, we want to start it with the hope that in Bosnia and Herzegovina, human life, no matter where it originates, will be equally valuable.
