The Guardian published NASA's photos of satellite images of planet Earth taken during May, reports the Patria News Agency. The fascinating photos show different landscapes that were most interesting this month.
This time, NASA specifically photographed the Balkans, more precisely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Croatia during the devastating floods that affected these three countries. The photo shows the Sava River, and the high water level is evident from the picture taken from space.
According to the Guardian, the photo was taken on May 23, and the swollen Sava River caused devastating floods.
- Heavy rainfall allowed rivers to flood the region and threaten more than 3 million people. The floods also triggered landslides, displacing a large number of people. Particularly concerning is that landslides have also washed away markings for minefields, and one mine exploded in Brčko – states the Guardian.
In addition to this photo, Alaska, China, Europe, and other regions are also shown.
