National Theatre marks July 11: Potocari Shadows installation and performance of Song of Srebrenica

(Patria) - The National Theatre Sarajevo, on the occasion of marking the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, will present an installation by Velija Hasanbegović and a poem interpreted by Emina Muftić.

The installation by Velija Hasanbegović from the cycle "Potocari Shadows" will be placed on the building of the National Theatre Sarajevo on July 11 at 9:00 PM, while at the same time, "Song of Srebrenica" by author Abdulah Sidran will be read by Emina Muftić.

The exhibition of the photograph "Potocari Shadows", through the lens of Velija Hasanbegović, reveals the pain and suffering that the people of Podrinje have gone through and are still going through, even after surviving the genocide. It is about photographs of Srebrenica and the Memorial Center in Potocari, which the photographer has been documenting for fifteen years.

Actress of the National Theatre Sarajevo Emina Muftić stated that even in the year when, unfortunately, the Poet left us, with his poem "Srebrenica", she will pay tribute to the sacrificed city and the victims of Srebrenica.

She adds that our lives have been marked by Srebrenica, and one of the writers and poets whose consciousness and heart were with this city is Abdulah Sidran.
