National Assembly of Republika Srpska on Declaration rejecting migrant acceptance

(Patria) - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska will today consider the proposed Declaration by the President of RS Milorad Dodik on migrants, which states that the parliament categorically rejects any plan to open migrant reception centers on the territory of BiH, and especially RS.

The text of the Declaration Proposal rejects the initiative of the British Government, the European Union and its member states, to establish migrant centers on the territory of BiH and opposes any forced settlement of migrants in the area of Republika Srpska.

The Declaration states that the settlement of individuals from high-conflict zones, among whom animosity exists, as shown by numerous clashes between migrant groups from different countries, would also represent a long-term security risk.

Dodik claims that the United Kingdom wants to deport 50,000 migrants to the Western Balkan countries.

Migrants arriving in BiH are mostly concentrated in Sarajevo, and then move to the area of Una-Sana Canton. It is precisely in these cantons that an increased number of criminal offenses have been recorded. The RS entity has refused to accommodate migrants since the beginning of the migrant crisis, and the eastern border along the BiH border crossings was most heavily guarded by members of the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In the information that will be presented to the deputies of the National Assembly, the police will intensively monitor the movement of migrants in the territory of Republika Srpska in the coming period, all for the purpose of protecting the personal and property security of citizens, and will not allow the movement of illegal migrants without supervision.

On Monday, the British Embassy issued a statement regarding this declaration, denying that any discussions were held about transferring migrants to BiH.
