Narod i Pravda: SDA does not distinguish between a work report and a financial performance report

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After several days of consideration, the Sarajevo Canton Assembly concluded its review of the 2017 work reports of institutions founded by Sarajevo Canton on Friday, with a significant number of reports not being adopted. Narod i Pravda rejects insinuations that the sole purpose of not adopting the reports is the potential dismissal of management structures.

“Deputies in the KS Assembly have thoroughly reviewed the work reports, and we have dedicated significant time to this purpose, although some from the opposition complained that deputies were working too much and requested the review to be expedited. We strived to pay attention to every institution and company, we discussed various segments of their work, we showed seriousness and interest in improving things. The real question is why we are only reviewing reports from 2017 in 2019, if everything is so idyllic, which the previous majority feared, and thus tried to sideline these reports,” explains the Speaker of the KS Assembly and president of Narod i Pravda, Elmedin Konaković.

After the work reports of a certain number of institutions and companies were not adopted, insinuations appeared in the public that the sole purpose of not adopting the reports was the dismissal of management structures, even though they operated profitably.

“Besides being in a hurry during the sessions, SDA clearly does not distinguish between a work report and a financial performance report. It is clear that profitable operations are an extremely important segment of the work report, but we are talking here about public interest institutions whose exclusive goal is not profit generation.

For example, you have healthcare institutions that have shown profitable operations, but it is evident that this came at the expense of patients, as citizens ask us daily why there are no basic reagents, why one has to wait for months for basic diagnostic examinations, and so on. Those who closely followed the discussions during the review of the work reports could have heard that deputies also commented on financial performance, but we did not stop there; we asked directors about public procurement, whether they fulfilled their duty as public institutions, about the (dis)satisfaction of citizens with their services,” adds Konaković.

Narod i Pravda reminds that not all reports were rejected and that there are examples of institutions whose reports were adopted, even though they are headed by SDA cadres. The party's stance is that the new government must show that public companies and institutions are not ruled but managed.

“We announced a system reset, and we do not hide that this entails the dismissal of a large number of those who think it is normal for political parties to view public companies as their property, to hire their members and relatives in them, and to award tenders to them. Even some good and honest people in management structures think this is correct because they have managed to impose it on us as a system. It is, of course, no secret that the parties of the 'Six' will share responsibility for appointing new management structures.

It will be precisely known who is responsible for which company. Narod i Pravda will continue to choose its cadres in the same way, some from among its membership and sympathizers, and very often cadres who probably did not even vote for us, but are experts and good cadres for certain areas,” is Konaković's stance.
