Next week public call for subsidizing housing for youth in KS

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton has passed a Decision on subsidizing the resolution of housing issues for young people who have not received this subsidy from the Canton during the past year and this year, and who have purchased an apartment or house.

"With this, the Government has respected the conclusion of the KS Assembly, and through the Budget Rebalancing, has allocated 1,000,000 KM for the support of these individuals. The public call for these young people will be published at the beginning of next week and will be posted on the official website of the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of KS. It is planned to be open for 20 days," announced the relevant minister Enver Hadžiahmetović.

He specified that all adult citizens up to 38 years of age, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, residing in Sarajevo Canton for the last three years, who have purchased an apartment or house in the period from June 3, 2020, to the date of the public call, and for which they have a notarized contract or possess a legally binding building permit from the competent authority, issued in their name, in the period from June 3, 2020, up to the date of the public call, will be able to apply.

"This solution covers the period from the end of the application period for the public call for 2020 until the date of the public call for subsidizing the resolution of housing issues for youth," explained, among other things, Minister Hadžiahmetović.

The Decision stipulates that all applicants on the final list of candidates who meet the prescribed conditions will be paid monetary funds in an equal amount, which is obtained by dividing the total funds allocated in the KS Budget for this purpose by the number of candidates on the final list, with the amount not exceeding 10,000 KM.

"This decision enables the subsidization of the purchase of used apartments or houses, as well as the construction of houses or apartments. Among the prescribed conditions for granting the subsidy are that the applicant and their spouse or common-law partner do not have their housing issue resolved in any other way, and that they have not owned an apartment or house that they have alienated through a legal transaction, and that the seller of the apartment or house is not a parent, sibling of the applicant or a parent, sibling of their spouse or common-law partner.

It is also a condition that the purchase price of the apartment or house does not exceed 150,000 KM, and that the applicant has not benefited from any of the Ministry's projects for pre-investment in affordable housing.

"If two individuals have concluded a purchase agreement for an apartment or house as buyers, only one of them can be the applicant for subsidizing the resolution of housing issues for youth, with the obligation that the other buyer provides a statement, certified by the competent authority, that they agree to him being the applicant," it is stated, among other things, in the Government's Decision adopted in this extremely important area.
