FINALLY Council of Ministers adopts Revised War Crimes Processing Strategy!?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The revised state strategy for processing war crimes should be adopted today at the session of the BiH Council of Ministers, Patria agency has unofficially learned. 

Although not announced as an agenda item, the Strategy, which has been in a status quo for five years, should be adopted today, Patria sources say. 

We remind you that The Hague returned documents on war crimes to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2004. In that documentation, the Tribunal designated 848 individuals as the "A" list, and according to data from the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide, investigations for 326 individuals from that list have been suspended so far. 

Considering who the "A" list referred to, the then Chief Prosecutor of BiH, Marinko Jurčević, turned everything in a different direction.

Instead of processing crimes from the priority list, the formation of the "State Strategy for War Crimes" began. That strategy came to life in 2008, and it took until 2015 for the authorities in BiH and the international system to realize that the strategy was not working. 

From 2015 to the present day, the Revised Strategy has been sabotaged by domestic and foreign actors, primarily among them the Minister of Economy of BiH, Josip Grubeša. 

And everything could have been different, because the Hague Tribunal provided enough material for those suspected of war crimes on the "A" list to be convicted without special investigative actions. Instead, the BiH judiciary began prosecuting individuals from the "B" list, in order to balance the ratio in the war.

For the sake of the victims and their families, we hope that the Revised Strategy will be adopted today, so that those most responsible for war crimes and genocide are prosecuted, and the victims receive justice and at least some satisfaction.
