From the catastrophic floods that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina, which forced more than 950,000 residents to leave their homes, images of distressed families in need of help are arriving daily, writes the Patria news agency.
One of them is the elderly Medžida Hajdarević, who is 80 years old and lives alone in a neglected, overgrown house near the Golden Lilies Bridge in Kakanj. As stated on the Facebook page „Help for flooded areas“, this elderly woman has been forgotten by everyone, but some individuals have brightened her day with their visit.
- She received some food supplies for survival, but the house is in total chaos. All the floors of the three rooms are flooded, and she urgently needs help. If someone can provide new flooring, lime, disinfectants, and some basic furniture, that would be great – they state on this page.
Incidentally, the modest Medžida only asks that a shed that collapsed be rebuilt so she has a place to store firewood.
- Her modesty is also reflected in the fact that she told us there is nothing to be done, everything is gone, but come over so we can have a coffee – it says on the page.
