This obvious attempt to impose desired personnel represents a direct threat to the independence and integrity of the FBiH Constitutional Court, warns SDA Vice President Aida Obuća.

"Namely, on the agenda of the emergency session, convened due to the Law on the Southern Interconnection, the forced administrators of FBiH 'inserted' the aforementioned outdated list with the aim of placing persons loyal to ethnic and political interests in key positions.

Among the 'preferential' candidates are Slaviša Bjelogrlić, advisor to the High Representative, and Monika Mijić, acting agent before the European Court of Human Rights.

The fact that both candidates, in addition to potential deficiencies in their biographies, are also linked by efforts to overturn the crucial 'Kovačević' ruling is concerning.

This very connection is a clear indicator of the real background of this appointment, which aims to strengthen further ethnic divisions, thereby undermining the integrity and multi-ethnic character of both the institutions and the entity of the Federation of BiH itself.

When judges become political commissars, and not independent arbiters, then it can be expected that their decisions will be aligned with party lines, and not with the Constitution and the law.

By turning the Constitutional Court into a political battlefield, the imposed authority undermines the foundations of the state and distances Bosnia and Herzegovina from European integration.

The participation of persons linked to the OHR in such processes is particularly concerning, because it raises the question of whether that institution, with this leadership and such actions, is at all acting to preserve the General Framework Agreement for Peace and protect the rule of law and democratic values," Obuća stated.
