Enhanced disinfection of public transport vehicles and compliance with prescribed epidemiological measures ordered

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Considering the current epidemiological situation in the Sarajevo Canton, amid the risk of the spread of coronavirus, the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton has once again pointed out to carriers performing public scheduled passenger transport in the area of Sarajevo Canton and their employees, as well as passengers in their vehicles, the obligation to adhere to and respect the recommendations of the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It also reminded of the instructions from the “Organization of public scheduled passenger transport in conditions of risk of coronavirus spread”. They specifically pointed out the following:

- Carriers are obliged to instruct their employees who develop symptoms such as cough, elevated body temperature, sore throat to contact their doctor, and not to come to work with such symptoms;
- Drivers operating vehicles must wear a protective mask while driving a public scheduled passenger transport vehicle;
- Other official persons in the vehicle (ushers, conductors, and inspectors) must wear masks as personal protective equipment;
- Users of public scheduled transport services must use masks, and the use of gloves is also recommended;
- Seats must be visibly marked with a spacing that ensures adequate physical distance between passengers, in accordance with the recommendations of the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
- Taking into account the recommendations of the Institute for Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding public scheduled passenger transport, carriers KJKP “GRAS” d.o.o. Sarajevo and Centrotrans Eurolines d.d. Sarajevo will adjust timetables to actual needs, and in case of a need to increase transport capacity, i.e., a larger number of vehicles, they will also introduce “BIS rides – additional vehicles”.

"Public transport vehicles must be thoroughly disinfected, specifically the interior and exterior of the vehicle, before the first departure or after returning to the carrier's depot at the end of work. Also, disinfection must be carried out at the initial and final terminals/terminuses, as well as ventilation of the vehicle interior. If possible, disinfection should also be performed during operation. Special attention should be paid to the driver's area, handrails, and other frequently touched objects," was detailed to the carriers.
