Angered by his wife, he set the apartment on fire and then calmly walked into town

A drama unfolded in an apartment building in Sisak on Monday evening. The owner set the apartment on fire after an argument with his wife, after which he calmly walked into town, Croatian media report.

Hase M. threatened to set the apartment on fire if his wife left him. After she left the apartment anyway, he set it on fire, locked it, and then calmly walked into town. Neighbors called firefighters and the police.

One police officer was injured when he entered the apartment to check if anyone was inside. Adjacent apartments also suffered material damage due to smoke and water when firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Hase M. is known to the police for alcohol and violence. He has been to prison several times, reports NAP.
