(Patria) - Councilor of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo Arslan Dučić has filed a criminal complaint against responsible persons of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, cantonal companies, and all other responsible unknown persons, after a tree killed a woman in the Grbavica settlement this morning.
The tree, which is over 10 meters high, fell on the woman due to snowfall. She died at the Emergency Medicine Clinic (KUM) in Sarajevo from her injuries.
"It is time for someone to finally be held accountable for oversights that cost human lives," Dučić stated on his FB profile.
He explained that he was struck by the news of the death of his 40-year-old fellow citizen and mother of two children. She sustained life-threatening head injuries and was transported for medical assistance, but unfortunately, she did not survive.
"It could have been any one of us, and if proper action is not taken, this will not be an isolated case. Snow in January must not be an excuse for rotten and unmaintained trees in pedestrian zones," Dučić stated.
