After the Letter from the RS, It Is Worth Recalling Duraković's Words: Everything Would Have Been Different If Bosniaks Were Not the Majority Muslims in BiH!

(Patria) - After representatives of the Republika Srpska in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (ruling parties) sent a letter to the U.S. Senate and Congress stating that BiH has long been a haven for radical Islamists, it is worth recalling the earlier stance of academician Esad Duraković, who exactly two years ago published a text on Patria, more precisely a proclamation addressing world powers.

We are republishing the text due to the moment we find ourselves in.

Let us finally speak openly about why Bosnia and Herzegovina is "guilty," why it suffers. Why have you been abusing it for more than a quarter of a century, and even today, at this moment, with your insincere emissaries, you announce no dawn for it. We have long hoped that you would truly help this country, a model of multi-ethnicity and harmonious coexistence, and finally bring it into the circle of values that you have – it is now obvious – reserved only for yourselves.

We must speak openly. I present to you, the powerful (because in Europe, of course, there are still people who have not abandoned Virtue and Humanity) a series of your deliberate "mistakes" that are so consistent they appear in the form of a morbid political construct:

- To Bosnia, a victim of three simultaneous neighboring aggressions, you imposed an arms embargo

– you denied the victim the right to self-defense, you who swear by humanity.

- When the Bosnians were nevertheless on the verge of safely liberating their country, you threatened them with NATO strikes if they tried to liberate it entirely.

- You disarmed the defenders of Srebrenica, declaring it a UN safe zone, and then you let the greatest bloodthirsty killers in there to massacre unarmed and innocent Bosniaks on an epic scale.

- Then you rewarded those bloodthirsty killers, granting them governance over that very area, which they had devastated both physically and ethically, as in the world of ancient tragedies. Is this the face of humanity in the 20th century?!

- Then you created a Republic (that term of sublime meaning) on an endless series of mass Bosniak graves. What shame to give such a construct the honorable name REPUBLIC!

- Then you awarded the world's greatest literary prize – the Nobel Prize – to Peter Handke, a friend of S. Milošević, and yet another denier of genocide. What a humiliation for the Prize and literature! And what meaning does art have at all after such an honor to a promoter of genocide against Bosniaks?!

- These days, you are awarding a very high-level decoration to Gideon Greif – yet another falsifier and denier of the genocide against Bosniaks. Is there no end to your inhumanity?! All these years, and even today, thanks to your emissaries, so-called European values are dying, or rather, perishing in Bosnia. Even today, your wrinkled face of humanity is being disfigured here!

In all of the above, there is an obvious constant, consistency, not a random diplomatic or political mistake. The fundamental cause is that it concerns Bosniaks as the majority Muslims.

Finally, it must be said that this is the essence of the problem. We recall – in that consistency – the words of British Prime Minister John Major (1993) addressed to his Foreign Secretary, Douglas Hogg – that he would not allow "Muslims in BiH to get weapons"; the admissions of high-ranking French officers about the pro-Chetnik orders they received from French President Mitterrand; Tuđman and Boban, who proclaimed the goal of converting some Bosniaks to Christianity and killing those who did not agree.

Everything here would have been different if it were not about Bosniaks because they are the majority Muslims. Let us remember from wartime the noble words of Mr. Biden – words of truth and honor – when he publicly testified before the U.S. Congress that the attitude towards Bosnia would have been different if it were not about Muslims.

We firmly believe, esteemed Mr. President, that you still stand behind your just words. Unfortunately, your envoy Palmer is not acting here in accordance with the sense of justice and humanity that you so strongly and convincingly advocated. The great difference between that time and today is that you are now the most powerful man in the world and can act effectively in accordance with those words, because in Bosnia, medieval Andalusia is being reenacted. To put an end to this historical disgrace – perhaps there is still a little time left.
