Following Patria's reporting: KS Government requests resolution of traffic light issue in East Sarajevo

Following the Patria news agency's repeated reports on the irritating traffic jams in East Sarajevo for citizens traveling to Bjelašnica and Igman, the Prime Minister of KS Elmedin Konaković and the KS Government reacted today, writes the Patria news agency.

- We have sent a letter to Nenad Samardžija, the Mayor of East Sarajevo, with whom I spoke yesterday, asking him to use his authority to help resolve the traffic jam on the road to Bjelašnica. Pressure is mounting on the Government to install traffic lights on the road to Jahorina as a potential response to this problem. In a very constructive conversation, I received a promise that the Mayor will take the necessary measures to resolve the issue, even though the jurisdiction lies with the Road Directorate, which is not part of the Municipality of East Sarajevo. We also discussed some other projects we would implement together; dialogue policy is much more beneficial for all citizens than stubbornness, and I hope we all think the same way – Konaković wrote.

We remind you that the green light at the traffic light in East Sarajevo for those going from and to Sarajevo lasts only 25 seconds. Then, for the next 75 seconds, it is green for those going from Lukavica towards Foča.
