After soldier's social media posts: Armed Forces of BiH have a Code of Ethics, investigation launched

After information appeared in the media that a member of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, soldier Mirza Džidić, publicly issued serious threats via the social network Facebook to Lejla Čolak, a journalist from the Klix portal, the Ministry of Defense of BiH received a large number of inquiries about how the Armed Forces of BiH will react towards its member and whether there is a code of ethics for the conduct of members of the AF BiH that they should adhere to, it was announced from the MoD BiH, reports the Patria news agency.

The Armed Forces of BiH have a prescribed Code of Ethics for the conduct of military personnel in the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which establishes basic standards of ethical conduct for military personnel during the performance of duty and off duty.

Violation of the Code of Ethics by a military person entails moral responsibility, and if a military person has violated the provisions of other laws, regulations and the Code of Ethics simultaneously, they will be sanctioned in accordance with legal and by-laws that define that area.

Managers of organizational units of the MoD BiH and commanders at all levels are responsible for consistent compliance with the provisions of the Code of Ethics.

Investigative actions have been initiated in the Ministry of Defense of BiH to establish the facts, and upon their completion, the public will be informed in a timely manner, the statement reads.
