AFTER DECISIONS IN THE RS NA, Schmidt Warns of Violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt said today that he strongly condemns the acts adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska on Friday, 10.12.2021.

"The adopted conclusions oblige the RS authorities to undertake specific legislative and other activities that would represent a violation of the General Framework Agreement for Peace. The radical political activities and rhetoric of the past few days are a threat to stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and undermine the prospects of all citizens, including citizens from Republika Srpska.

Leadership requires rationality and a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. That is the essence of democracy and what is needed for the Dayton institutions to function in the interest of all citizens.  

I call for full respect of the General Framework Agreement for Peace. All parties must act within this framework in order to make lawful decisions in a spirit of compromise.

The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina want a peaceful and prosperous future. I am ready to contribute to that goal in a decisive and responsible manner. Dialogue takes precedence over any other form of action", said Schmidt.
