After neo-Nazi revelry yesterday in Mostar: The NDH lives today where the HDZ holds power

The Civic Alliance (GS) most strongly condemns the Ustasha and neo-Nazi revelry yesterday in Mostar, on the occasion of marking the Day of the Liberation of the city in 1945. The fact that the ideological successors of Ustasha criminals are today able to freely attack anti-fascists speaks volumes about the state of democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some ideas do not have, and must not have, the right of citizenship, especially after Jasenovac and Jadovno.

- We in GS want to emphasize once again that the values of the criminal Independent State of Croatia live today in parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina where the Croatian Democratic Union holds power. Today, members of the Ustasha army from World War II are able to organize freely only in municipalities and cantons where the HDZ is in power, and the authorities' policy towards those who are fewer in number is brutal repression, and the stance towards the mathematical majority of citizens is apartheid in the style of South African apartheid. Peter Botha has found a worthy successor in Dragan Čović.

In HDZ media, Serbs, Roma, and Jews are still treated today as they were in the NDH, while the status of "Muslim flowers" is reserved for political parties from Sarajevo that use 400,000 Bosniak votes to implement Dragan Čović's election promises. The silence of HDZ's coalition partners regarding the Ustasha rampage in Mostar shows that the ruling coalition members share, and a little more than, a love for Mustafa Busuladžić, an otherwise Nazi collaborator and a Croat of Islamic faith.

GS wants to express its concern that the resurgence of Ustashism in BiH has the full support of official Zagreb, which does not hide its territorial aspirations towards our country. What is worrying, and more than that, is that it is doing so under the banner of membership in the EU and NATO. Therefore, we in GS consider the integration of BiH, primarily into the EU, to be irrelevant as long as one member of that association is openly working to dismember it and subjugate the majority of its citizens.

Finally, we from GS want to tell the HDZ and their Ustasha youth the following:

- The left in this country has always built schools, nationalists have built camps. We built factories, you built mass graves. In 45 years of "dark socialism", thousands of places of worship were built in BiH, you destroyed every one you could. You still drive on roads built during anti-fascist work actions, you are treated in hospitals built from socialist self-contributions.

Our values are morally superior to yours, and there are no artillery strikes that can change that. You fenced people in with barbed wire, but there is no wire you will be able to use to fence in the idea of equality, brotherhood, and solidarity at every step in BiH.

And finally, every war against that idea you have lost: you lost the war you started in 1941, then in 1993, and you will lose this one too - the reaction states.
