Four-time Balkan medalist, including two golds, and nine-time national champion Lejla Tanović, a member of the professional SMF team, won second place at the UCI C2 race in Grožnjan, Croatia.
Tanović competed in the race after a month-long absence from competition due to illness, during which she missed three planned events.
By winning second place, she earned 20 new UCI points for the world ranking list and continued preparations for the final part of the season, where four more races await her.
- Due to illness, we had to miss several planned races and the opportunity to collect UCI points; however, we are pleased that just a few days after the doctor's permission to return to training, Lejla raced well and won second place.
At this moment, the new 20 UCI points are extremely valuable, but until the end of the season, we have four more competitions where I expect Lejla to perform in very good form. Our priority for the end of the season will certainly be to win as many UCI points as possible and advance on the ranking list - said the selector of the BiH MTB national team, Amar Njemčević.
This was the 20th medal at UCI races for BiH MTB representative Lejla Tanović, and already next season, the main goal will be to collect as many UCI points as possible to more easily achieve the norm for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
