After Mafia-Style Murder in Ljubljana, Police Searching for Several More Individuals: Weapons, Masks, Detonators Found at Cezar's

(Patria) - Director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NPU) Darko Muženič revealed new details of the major police operation in which Dino Muzaferović Cezar was arrested. During searches of the homes of three suspects, among other things, larger quantities of drugs and weapons were found, but based on the data collected so far, the NPU estimates that more individuals were involved in the murder of Satko Kekić.

“It is difficult for me to talk about the exact number of perpetrators, but we are working on it and we want to bring them to justice,” he said.

The investigating judge ordered the suspects to be detained for 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NPU) Darko Muženič revealed some details of the major police operation. As he said, due to the danger, the arrest of the suspects was carried out by police officers of the special unit, who used special means of entry and other means of neutralization.

According to N1's findings, the police used smoke bombs to enter the apartment in Črnuče, where the suspect Dino Muzaferović – Cezar was hiding.

“The arrest of the suspects required special skills,” said Muženič.

During the criminal investigation, it was determined that the leader of the international criminal group is a 38-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), who is wanted by BiH and Croatia for criminal acts in the field of organized crime.

The accomplices are Roland Cretu, a 40-year-old citizen of Albania, and Jaka Bergant, a 22-year-old Slovenian citizen from Ljubljana.

NPU investigators determined that the suspects, part of an international criminal group that is very well organized and prepared, with a clear hierarchy of decision-making, killed the 42-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Satko Zovka, in a treacherous manner out of revenge.

Satko Zovka (formerly Kekić) was killed just over seven days ago near a well-known Ljubljana hotel, and the police arrested the suspects for this murder on Thursday. The motive for the murder was revenge and a settling of scores between criminal groups. However, the NPU, which is also leading the investigation, estimates that more criminals were involved in the liquidation.

“After the actual insight into the crime, the number of shell casings and different calibers found at the scene, and the actual location of the execution, we estimate that there were more perpetrators. It is difficult to talk about the exact number, but we are working on it and we want to bring them to court,” added Muženič.

The National Bureau of Investigation continues to intensively gather information – also abroad – and conduct investigative actions.

As Muženič explained, the suspects committed the crime “recklessly and brutally.” Their behavior shows extremely violent methods. This is also shown by the seized items found during house searches, where a larger quantity of various firearms, shell casings, and materials for making explosive devices were confiscated.

“Their actions were aimed solely at achieving the goal, and their actions were completely callous and cold-blooded,” explained Muženič.

The NPU director also confirmed Večer's report that the suspects were located, among other things, via tracking devices that the suspects themselves installed on the victim's car. It was a GPS tracker.

Muženič added that this is one of the leads, and that the arrest is the result of a combination of various police measures and methods they use in their work.

“I can confirm that the tracking device was found. Our experts successfully obtained data from it. So that was one piece of the puzzle that ultimately led to the arrest of the suspects, but it was not the only one,” he added.

The NPU director also did not confirm whether this is a settling of scores between the Kavac and Škaljari clans.

“The investigation in this direction is ongoing. But I can confirm that it is about misunderstandings and revenge due to various disagreements that different members had with each other. It is difficult to talk about one clan or the other. It is probably a settling of scores within and between criminal groups,” commented Muženič.

The Director of the Criminal Police Directorate, Damjan Petrič, explained that an “extremely large number” of police officers and criminal investigators are involved in the murder investigation.

“A successful criminal investigation is the result of professional work,” he said, emphasizing that the Slovenian police successfully investigate even the most serious crimes. According to him, to work even more efficiently, the police need improved legislation and more modern tools.

Istraga.ba published what was found during the arrest of Cezar in the apartment where he was staying. Security services informed Avdić that his security was threatened and that Cezar was behind it.
