Athens was hit by heavy rainfall yesterday, and already today an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 has caused new troubles in Greece, Greek media reported, as carried by the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).
The epicenter of the quake was in western Greece.
Heavy rainfall caused flooding on the streets, blocking traffic, and water entered homes, but authorities were unprepared to take any action. Some parts of Athens have been blocked since yesterday.
The torrent, which in some parts of the city was over a meter high, swept vehicles down the streets, and footage from the affected areas testifies to damage of enormous proportions, which has been further worsened today by the earthquake.
Problems also arose in rail traffic, and meteorologists warn that rainfall and low temperatures could persist across much of Greece throughout the weekend, NAP reports.
