After construction of the sewage network, new asphalt in Amira Muharemovića Street in the Švrakino Selo settlement

(Patria) - Residents of Amira Muharemovića Street have received a completely new, more functional road. After the reconstruction of the local sewage network, approximately 320 meters long, was completed, asphalting of the road in this street is underway.

This is a street in the hillside part of Švrakino Selo, which descends from Novopazarska to Atife Karalić Street, and which was in a very poor condition in the previous period.



- Previously, this street did not have a sewage network; it was a kind of improvisation. Now, two channels, i.e., two pipes of FI 300 millimeters, for rainwater and sewage, have been built, which drain the sewage from this part towards the lower parts of the settlement, without the risk of floods and landslides.

After that, it was necessary to repair and asphalt the street. It was truly extensive work and a difficult terrain to access for large construction machinery.

The company carrying out the works had to make certain improvisations, and the street was closed – said the Mayor of Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, Semir Efendić, who visited the works in the mentioned street today with his associates.

On this occasion, Mayor Efendić thanked the residents for their patience and understanding regarding the closure of the street to traffic, as there was no other way to bring the street into a functional state except by blocking it to traffic.



- To everyone's satisfaction, we have reached the point where asphalting is being done. I think it will take a few more days precisely because of the conditions in which it is being done.

It is important that the sewage, as a major problem and hazard in this part of the Novi Grad municipality, has been resolved, and that the street has been asphalted afterwards. So, new asphalt has been laid for a length of approximately 320 meters.

Today we visited the works, and this is one of those days when we are happy about what we are doing, because the results of our work are truly visible.



From today onwards, citizens can enjoy all the benefits of what has been done – said Mayor Efendić.

Fahira Šatara, who lives in this street, is happy that sewage no longer flows down the street and that the street has been asphalted.

- Previously, the street was in a catastrophic condition, sewage flowed onto the street, it was impossible to pass, we had to clean in front of the house non-stop. Now I am extremely satisfied, thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Mayor and his associates – stated Fahira.

Haris Omerbašić said that the final works are underway in the street, and that the situation was extremely bad before, but now the sewage and asphalt have been done.



- The only thing left is the construction of a new water supply network. Everything else is excellent. A wall still needs to be built towards the plots that our neighbors have ceded for the expansion of the street, so the living conditions in this street will be much, much better, especially since the street will be widened in the lower part, so trucks and fire trucks will be able to access it, which was not the case until now – says Haris.

As part of the repair and asphalting of the road in Amira Muharemovića Street, grates and drains for collecting rainwater have also been installed, and works are underway to widen the road at the entrance from Atife Karalić Street with the construction of a retaining wall.
