After FBiH, mining protests also in RS, their salaries have not been increased for 13 years

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Workers of RiTE “Ugljevik” have again gathered in front of the management of that company and highlighted their demands previously submitted to the management, which have not yet been fulfilled. The media was banned from attending this gathering.

They told the management of that company that they are not giving up on their demands for salary increases and the dismissal of the director, and that until these demands are met, they are suspending work because, as they claim, while they are fighting for survival, someone from an armchair is raking in millions from RiTE “Ugljevik”.

“Director Čedomir Stojanović has created a huge mess here. Our receivables from suppliers are now close to 50,000,000 KM. This means we are in a state of doubt and chaos, on the verge of collapse,” says Dragan Babić, one of the workers of RiTE “Ugljevik”.

Zoran Mićanović, president of the Trade Union Organization of RiTE “Ugljevik”, believes that Stojanović is no longer fit to lead that company.

“With his moves, he has led us into a deep deficit. He does not have the courage to face the workers because he has embezzled a significant amount of money from RiTE “Ugljevik”,” says Mićanović.

The workers are demanding 15 percent higher salaries, which, as they claim, have not been increased since 2008. The problem is also that, as unionists point out, unqualified workers have been hired in that company for years.
