After 25 Years of Struggle, Residents of Gornji Kromolj and Poljine Get Water

(Patria) - Workers of the Cantonal Public Utility Company "Vodovod i kanalizacija" have completed the works on laying pipelines and connecting households to the new water supply network in the settlements of Gornji Kromolj and Poljine.

With the implementation of this project, after 25 years of struggle, residents of the settlements of Gornji Kromolj and Poljine have received a regular supply of drinking water.

Namely, the Mayor of the Centar Municipality, Srđan Mandić, initiated activities to resolve the problem in this area immediately upon taking office.

In December 2020, Mayor Mandić, together with the then director of KJKP "Vodovod i kanalizacija", Enver Hadžiahmetović, visited the locations of Poljine and Gornji Kromolj, where activities to resolve the water supply for the mentioned settlements were agreed upon. In April 2021, the laying of the pipeline was supposed to begin; however, at the request of the residents of the mentioned settlements, the works were postponed in order to find a more adequate solution.

In the same year, works began on the construction of a hydroflex facility with stronger water pumps, based on a contract signed by Mayor Srđan Mandić with the director of KJKP "ViK".

In order for the settlements of Gornji Kromolj and Poljine in the area of the Local Community "Betanija" to get water, the Centar Municipality initially financed the construction of a new pumping station in Gornji Kromolj in the amount of 260,131 KM, where a new hydroflex facility with stronger water pumps was designed and built.

For the laying of 1,650 meters of the main pipeline and the connection of household connections, 170,685 KM was allocated from the Municipality's budget, also based on a contract signed by Mayor Srđan Mandić with the director of KJKP "ViK".

In addition to financing the mentioned items, the Centar Municipality also provided all necessary approvals in the project so that, after implementation, it would be introduced into the official city water supply system, managed by KJKP "Vodovod i kanalizacija".

Also, for the execution of earthworks for the needs of constructing the pipeline and connections, as well as for asphalt paving after the connections were completed, 249,485 KM was allocated.

With the implementation of this project, with a total value of 680,301 KM, 66 households in the settlements of Gornji Kromolj and Poljine have received a regular supply of drinking water.
