After a 24-year "exile", Tito returns to Užice

At the beginning of World War II, Užice in western Serbia was the seat of the partisan army, and from 1946 to 1992 the city bore the adjective "Titov" whose statue was removed from "Trg 1961" a year earlier, reports the Patria News Agency.

Serbian media are reporting today that the monument to the person most responsible for Užice becoming a modern place is now returning to the location from which it was "exiled", with the hope of city authorities that this will attract tourists and admirers of Josip Broz. 

- The monument will be moved by Victory Day next year. Whether to the Square, where it was located, in front of the building from which Tito commanded, or to another location, his monument will serve the tourist offer. The Museum of the Užice Republic is also being prepared, so it is an opportunity to enrich the content, along with the Blue Train journey and a symbolic passport, with a monument. Many people would come to see something like that. Guides, bakers, and newspaper vendors would earn from them, said the director of the National Museum, Nikola Gogić, for Blic.rs.
