Nakaš: Nationalism with chauvinism is very close to fascism, Mostar can be repeated anywhere in BiH

Bakir Nakaš, president of SABNOR, said on TV1 that the awakening of fascism is more than dangerous. Nakaš said this commenting on the Ustasha and neo-Nazi revelry yesterday in Mostar, on the occasion of marking the Day of the Liberation of the City in 1945, Patria reports.

- We had peace for a significant period in the former Yugoslavia, until we came to some "democratic" elections where nationalist parties won power. In a certain way, they again laid the foundations for fascism to flourish. Nationalism with chauvinism is very close to fascism. And everything that is today emphasized in the interest of a particular nation is at the expense of another nation. Today we have interpretations that we cannot live together, that we should live next to each other – says Nakaš.

Fascism in action in Mostar, and Nakaš warns that this is just a reprise.

- Unfortunately, this is not the first time. This is a slightly milder reprise, and with the presence of intervention units, to which I am grateful, a different scenario that may have been envisioned was probably prevented. The Partisan Cemetery is a monument to the victory over fascism, an architectural form, a solution that does not exist anywhere in the world and has always been a place visited by people. Today, in the dark, they come and break stones, and tomorrow on the street corners they laugh at those who mourn what happened. This can happen anywhere in BiH, as long as the BiH Parliament does not pass a law banning the activities of fascist and neo-fascist organizations. We are one of the few countries in Europe that has been trying to pass this law for several years now, at the proposal of some deputies, but without success. Here, drawing swastikas, etc., is allowed...” warns Nakaš.

Nakaš also commented on the political attack on the portal vijesti.ba, which in its text pointed to the awakening of evil.

- The very fact that national parties do not allow the organization of BiH to be based on European principles shows that they are heading towards the past, towards ethnic division, towards pure-blooded nations. That is something that is retrograde and based on the politics of the NDH – Nakaš emphasized.
