The highest leadership of SDA marked 24 years since the founding of this party

The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) today marked 24 years of its existence, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The Deputy President of SDA and the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegović, said that this party, given the circumstances that have befallen BiH, will not celebrate the 24th year since its founding. This day, he said, will be marked by helping the people.

Addressing the attendees, Izetbegović also read a message from the President of SDA, Sulejman Tihić, in which Tihić congratulates the party members and leadership on the anniversary of the party's founding, wishing that SDA continues on the path started 24 years ago, led by Alija Izetbegović in the fight for BiH.

- I believe that I will soon be able to return to my duties in the Party and the state, and together with you, contribute to the recovery of the situation in the country – Tihić wrote in his message.

By October, before the first rains, Izetbegović further stated, care must be taken to ensure that every person in BiH affected by floods and landslides gets a safe roof over their head.

- This spring, the justified dissatisfaction of the people first overflowed. And then the rivers overflowed. BiH does not remember, there is nothing in Turkish registers, nothing in Austrian annals recorded about waters like these, nor disasters brought by floods like this one. Therefore, today we will have a meeting of mayors to see what municipalities not affected by the disaster can do for those that are – said Izetbegović.

Speaking about the 24 years behind SDA, Izetbegović said that everything this party has done so far was the defense of the dignity and defense against the humiliation of the Bosnian people. He said that this party initiated democratic processes, dared to oppose the communist regime while others watched with fear, and organized the defense of BiH.

- But all of this can be reduced to one word – the defense of the dignity of the Bosnian people – said Izetbegović.

Unfortunately, he added, when SDA was pushed out of power in 2006, the period that followed was a period of lost reforms and a period of lost jobs.

- We want not one mandate now, but two mandates. But we also want 100,000 jobs. In the first four years, we will bring back the lost 40,000 jobs, and in the next four, we will create 60,000 new jobs. If anyone can do this, then the people from SDA can, those who organized the impossible defense of BiH – said Izetbegović.

He said that besides proven, experienced people known to the public, SDA must also present new faces and new ideas in the October elections...

- SDA must have the strength to reform itself, and then to go to the elections – Izetbegović concluded, reports Patria.
