Most Stolen Vehicles in Novi Grad, Citizens Returning Cars Themselves

According to the report of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton (KS) for February this year, 73 cars were stolen in the Sarajevo Canton, and 26 were returned. Citizens themselves returned 16 vehicles, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

The MUP KS returned seven cars, and the MUP RS, with monetary compensation and from other MUPs, one vehicle each was returned.

Compared to last year, when 46 vehicles were stolen in February, there has been an increase in the number of thefts by 58.7%.

By place of theft, most cars were stolen in the municipality of Novi Grad, 24, and 12 were returned. This data is not surprising considering the large number of thefts recorded in the Dobrinja settlement, which is closest to Lukavica, i.e., Republika Srpska, and thieves already have a well-developed tactic for hiding vehicles, which is also a problem for the MUP KS because in such cases they depend on cooperation with colleagues from the MUP RS.

In Novi Sarajevo, 13 vehicles were stolen, two were returned. In Centar, 22 vehicles were stolen, five were returned. In the Ilidža area, 12 cars were stolen, six were returned.

In the Vogošća area, two vehicles were stolen, and one was returned.

Official reports have been filed against four individuals on suspicion of participating in motor vehicle theft.

Compared to last year, 16 vehicles were stolen in Novi Grad, 11 in Centar, 8 in Novi Sarajevo, and 11 in Ilidža.
