Most migrants in January arrived from Pakistan

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH was informed about the Information of the Ministry of Security on the situation in the area of ​​migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the increased inflow of migrants. 

The Service for Foreigners' Affairs registered 696 illegal migrants from January 1 to 27, 2019, and 585 expressed their intention to seek asylum, while nine people applied for asylum. Among these migrants were 20 unaccompanied minors, and 19 of them expressed their intention to apply for asylum. 

The largest number of migrants arriving in BiH in January were from Pakistan (106) and Iraq (102), followed by citizens of Syria (85), Morocco (73), and Algeria (67). Among others, who make up 28.7% of the total number of registered migrants, the most represented are citizens of Bangladesh (43), Iran (40), India (34), Libya (32), and Palestine (25).
