Most successful farmers in Centar Municipality awarded cash prizes

In the premises of the Centar Municipality, a ceremonial presentation of diplomas and awards to agricultural producers - the winners of the Election for the most successful farmers-livestock breeders from the area of the central city municipality in 2013, was held today, it was announced from the Centar Municipality, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Awards were given in the categories: best farmer, most optimal zoohygiene and zootechnical conditions for keeping animals, most successful cattle breeders, most successful sheep breeders, and most successful beekeepers. Among the awardees are also three women. The diploma presentation was attended by the Mayor of Centar Municipality Dževad Bećirević, President of the Municipal Council Nedžad Ajnadžić, councilor and president of the Commission for the selection of the highest quality farmers/livestock breeders and professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Velija Katica, and Assistant Mayor for Economy and Finance Fahrudin Kurtović.

Congratulating the most successful farmers, Mayor Bećirević said that the Centar Municipality has been implementing this project for about ten years.

- The Municipal Council forms a commission composed of livestock experts, and the members visit all rural households and check the health status of the livestock. This doesn't mean much to the farmers in financial terms, as much as it means to host them in the Municipality and for them to see that we are interested in what they do. Then they strive to achieve better results each year, have more heads of cattle, and be better than their neighbors. The Centar Municipality is not just from Marijin Dvor to Vječna vatra. About 70 percent of the Centar Municipality area is rural, and livestock farming is developing in that part, and we are glad that most of these people live off it - emphasized Bećirević.

President Ajnadžić joined the congratulations and added that good projects are also supported by the legislative authority, i.e., every councilor of the Centar Municipal Council.

Nedeljko Đokanović was declared the best farmer, receiving an award of 600 KM.

- I live in Kromolj and I keep bulls, dairy cows, sheep... I received the award based on the overall condition of my household. I keep a lot of livestock and I traditionally engage in agriculture. This award means a lot to me. The Centar Municipality has been supporting farmers, milk and meat producers for years, and we thank the Municipality, led by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, who, despite a difficult year for this institution, found a way to meet us and show that we are not forgotten - said Nedeljko.

An award of 200 KM was given to Nihada Pandžić for the most optimal zoohygiene and zootechnical conditions for keeping animals. Meho Muharemović (1st prize - 500 KM), Beriz Omerović (2nd prize - 400 KM), Siniša Rašević (3rd prize - 300 KM), Sabahet Seferović (4th prize - 200 KM), Jadranko Rađenović (5th prize - 150 KM), Munib Gljiva (6th prize - 100 KM), and Fata Pandžić (7th prize - 100 KM) were declared the most successful cattle breeders.

In the category of sheep breeders, the awardees were: Kasim Samouk (1st prize - 400 KM), Ćiro Ješić (2nd prize - 300 KM), Žarko Rašević (3rd prize - 200 KM), Hašim Muharemović (4th prize - 150 KM), Strajilo Dragaš (5th prize - 150 KM), Halid Muharemović (6th prize - 100 KM), Hašim Pandžić (7th prize - 100 KM). Muhamed Salkanović (1st prize - 300 KM), Snježana Rašević (2nd prize - 200 KM), and Ljubiša Mikić (3rd prize - 150 KM) were declared the most successful beekeepers in the Centar municipality.

A total of 4,600 KM was allocated from the Centar Municipality budget for the 19 aforementioned awards.

Commission President Velija Katica said that the members visited all farmers.

- This year, the criteria were slightly tightened. I would like to re-actualize the issue of opening a store where farmers' products would be sold. Food is one of the most important strategic elements, and we must utilize rural areas for organic production. The market for organic production is not in question - said Katica.
