The bestselling book in Sarajevo bookstores from the end of 2013 to February 2014 is "The Forty Rules of Love," a novel about Rumi by Turkish writer Elif Shafak. Among domestic authors, the most sought-after book is "...And I am from Srebrenica" by "Hayat" television host Fikret Hodžić, according to research by the BiH news agency "Patria" (NAP).
The bestselling book about Rumi is, according to reviewers, a miraculous story about love and spiritual longing, an exploration of the universal desire for intimacy. The erotic novel trilogy "Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker," and "Fifty Shades Freed" by author E. L. James is also selling very well.
"The Alchemist of Acre," a novel by Paulo Coelho, which became a bestseller in America, Great Britain, France, and many other countries in a short period in 2013, is still one of the bestselling books here today.
"And the Mountains Echoed," a novel by the author of world bestsellers "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns," Khaled Hosseini. Books by domestic authors that are also selling well include: "Sandals" by Bekim Sejranović, "Sarajevo Marlboro," a collection of short stories by Bosnian writer and journalist Miljenko Jergović. "Secret of Raspberry Jam," a collection of short stories by Karim Zaimović. "Sarajevo, My City," a book by a group of authors published by "Rabic" Publishing House.
