The most modern in the region: Tunnel "1 March" open to traffic from Monday

Tunnel „1. mart“ on corridor 5C will be opened to traffic on 25 August this year, confirmed by the state company Autoceste Federacije BiH, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

All tests of safety equipment in the tunnel have been completed, after which the tunnel is ready for opening to traffic.

Nearly three kilometres long and one of the most demanding tunnels on corridor 5C, „1. mart“ will connect Sarajevo and Zenica with a modern motorway, which will ultimately contribute to stronger and faster economic development of this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes NAP.

The tunnel was built by Bosnian-Herzegovinian companies led by domestic firms Euroasfalt Sarajevo and ŽGP Sarajevo, with over 300 workers who worked 24 hours on the construction of this project.

Tunnel safety will be monitored 24 hours a day from the control room of the Traffic Maintenance and Control Centre of the state company Autoceste Federacije BiH. Some equipment, such as LED lighting, appears for the first time in this region in the tunnel “1. mart”, writes Patria.
