Establishment of a Day Center for Psychosocial Support for PTSD Sufferers Announced

Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Mario Nenadić received representatives of the Association of Sufferers of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder VOX – Sarajevo today, led by their president Faruk Krek.

On this occasion, it was stated that this project has been ongoing since 2017, and that four cantonal ministries in the fields of health, social policy, internal affairs, and veteran affairs, along with three public institutions, are working on it together.

President Krek announced that they plan to create a register of sufferers, and with the help of health centers and mental health centers, establish a day center for psychosocial support for sufferers, and form a professional team.

Prime Minister Nenadić emphasized that this association has the support of the Government of Sarajevo Canton, and that, for the purpose of taking future steps, it is very important to know that the Ministry of Health is the holder of their activities.

He added that the system must be established, which implies that the Association has a plan of project activities for 2021, which would specify all their needs to continue their activities, and that this plan includes a proposal for an indicative budget.

“If the project is agreed upon and represents a common goal of the Association and the Government, then it will receive support, but with an adequate financing model,” the Prime Minister stated.

Representatives of the Association thanked the Prime Minister and the ministers for their support so far, and invited them to attend a forum they will organize on October 9th, at the Youth Center, Skenderija.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of KS Jasna Agić, the Minister of Veteran Affairs Hajrudin Grabovica, and representatives of the Ministries of Health and Internal Affairs.
