Compromise reached: SDA councillors will not vote for resignation, Duraković remains mayor

A meeting was held today at the SDA headquarters in Sarajevo with Srebrenica Mayor Ćamil Duraković to resolve the issues that arose after he submitted his resignation on September 24, reports the Patria news agency.

-This was a quality conversation and we reached a compromise. I am truly sorry that I did this, but I was forced to. I still believe that the heads of public institutions must be appointed as competent and professional individuals who will serve the citizens, not the parties.

The citizens voted for me, and I am obliged to justify their trust. It was not my intention to argue with anyone, because in the end, only the people of Srebrenica suffer from politicians' quarrels, but I repeat, I had to take this step and submit my resignation, Duraković told Patria after the meeting.

At the headquarters, Sadik Ahmetović and Šefket Hafizović spoke with Duraković and the head of the SDA councillor club in the Srebrenica Assembly, Hamdija Fejzić, on behalf of the party.

-Ćamil Duraković's resignation has entered the procedure, and we agreed that SDA councillors will not vote for it. Also, we agreed to announce a competition for the director of the Health Center in Srebrenica and to select the best candidate who applies.

I led the SDA in Srebrenica for 10 years, and for that reason, the party leadership tasked me with talking to Duraković and Fejzić. I am glad that we resolved this story to everyone's satisfaction, especially the people of Srebrenica, says Ahmetović.
