Draft Law on BiH Courts Withdrawn Again from Council of Ministers of BiH

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH is not considering the Draft Law on BiH Courts today, and this item is not on the final agenda determined before the session itself, it has been confirmed for Patria.

For the second week in a row, this draft has been removed from the agenda, and the parties forming the state government have not reached a final agreement on the text of the law itself.

The president of SNSD, Milorad Dodik, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Staša Košarac, stated yesterday after a meeting of leaders and elected officials in the institutions of Republika Srpska and BiH that no law will be adopted until the issue of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the status of judges are resolved.

One judge from Republika Srpska is already missing from the Constitutional Court of BiH, and after the retirement of Zlatko M. Knežević, another judge position from Republika Srpska will become vacant.

Dodik also told his coalition partners that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska will not elect judges to the Constitutional Court of BiH from Republika Srpska until a new law on the Constitutional Court of BiH is passed.
