Nationalist European Parties Joining Forces After May Elections

(Patria) - Nationalist and anti-immigrant parties plan to join forces after the European Parliament elections in May and form a new alliance. The plan is for the newly formed bloc to shake up the EU.

"We want to reform the EU and the European Parliament, but not destroy them. We want to implement a radical change," said Joerg Meuthen, leader of the eurosceptic party Alternative for Germany (AfD).

He told reporters that the new group in the European Parliament will be called the European Alliance for Peoples and Nations and will immediately include at least 10 parties.
This meeting was organized by the Deputy Prime Minister of Italy, Matteo Salvini, who heads the right-wing League. Leaders of the AfD, the right-wing Danish People's Party, and the conservative Finns Party also stayed in Milan.

All of them support the initiative to form a new group of parties with common interests after the European elections next month. European sovereignist parties share ideological goals regarding the eradication, as they see it, of the European liberal course and the return of powers to the governments of member states. These parties often have very different economic and social political ideas, which makes it difficult to form a coherent group in the European Parliament.
